Questions from Lab Central Receiving

Q: What is the difference between Shared Specimen and Move test to Specimen?

A: Shared specimen: The system suggests that the specimens share a container as long as all tests support sharing across labs, example: Urine Culture and Urine Analysis.

Move test to Specimen: An activity that allows users to move tests between two selected specimen records, including closed specimens whose associated tests have already been verified or canceled. When Sharing specimen is not allowed, use the move test to specimen if needed. Example: 24 Hours Urine collected for an in house test and Send out test.
