Configure the VPN client on linux - Ubuntu

Install and use the VPN client on Ubuntu 18.04

1) Download the VPN software from the following link https://hadler.me/files/forticlient-sslvpn_4.4.2333-1_amd64.deb

2) install it (you need to input the admin / root password for you machine)

3) Start the VPN connection, open the Ubuntu search box and click on the program

4) fill in the vpn server information and your login credentials and press "continue", after few seconds, you should recieve a notification on your multi-factor
authentication device (e.g your phone), press approve.

5) the following screen indicates that you are connected to AUB's vpn service

Connecting from the command line

If your linux machine does not have a graphical user interface, it is possible to connect from the terminal by executing the command

    /opt/forticlient-sslvpn/64bit/forticlientsslvpn_cli --server vpn.aub.edu.lb:443 --vpnuser abc30

Other linux distributions

It is possible to install the VPN client on other linux distributions such as (CentOS, Debian, Redhat...), please contact it.helpdesk@aub.edu.lb for support.
