  • "Moodle is used at many universities worldwide to help educators create effective online learning communities. Moodle allows students to access course resources from any Internet connected computer, regardless of the Operating System. Moodle will work with most Web browsers (Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and others)."
  • Through Moodle, instructors can post course materials and make them available to their students. These resources can be in the form of:
    • Uploaded Material:
      • Documents in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF
      • Audio and Video
      • SWF (flash files)

    • Directly Composed Material:
      • Book: A simple multipage document organized like a book
      • Webpages

  • Some of the major Moodle tools include:
    • Assignments: Students can prepare digital content (any format) and submit it by uploading it to the server. Typical assignments include essays, projects, reports and so on. This module includes grading facilities

Assignments with Turnitin: A setting within the assignment module that when enabled, allows students to submit their papers directly to Turnitin from Moodle

    • Quizzes: Instructors can design and set quizzes containing multiple choice, true-false, short answer, essay, matching and calculated questions. These questions are kept in a categorized database and can be re-used within courses and even between courses

    • Forums: Forums can be structured in different ways and can include peer ratings for each posting. The postings can be viewed in a variety for formats and can include attachments. By subscribing to a forum, participants will receive copies of each new posting in their AUB email

    • Glossary: This activity allows participants to create and maintain a list of definitions, like a dictionary

    • Database: The database module allows the instructor and/or students to build, display and search a bank of entries about any conceivable topic. The format and structure of these entries can be almost unlimited, including images, files, URLs, numbers and text, among other things
