The purpose of this article is to walk you through the installation process of EndNote 20 on your device(s). 

For assistance with the installation, kindly visit Service Desk Portal to report an incident/service request, or to locate the nearest IT Service Desk.

Windows (Windows 10 and 11) 

1. Close all Microsoft Office related programs, including Outlook

2. If you are not already on the download page, you can get the installation package through:
   https://libraries.aub.edu.lb/sp/private/oncampus/endnote/EndNoteAgreement.html
   N.B: The download link is accessible for active students, faculty and staff from on-campus only 

3. Authenticate with your AUBnet credentials

4. Read the terms and conditions of use then click on "I agree to the terms and conditions of the license"

5. Click on “EndNote 21 for Windows”

6. Save the zipped file on your computer
   

7. Right-click on the zipped file and click “Extract All …”

8. Note: You may have an archiving software archived (ex: WinRAR), and this step may differ accordingly

   

9. Double click on the executable Windows Installer file called “EN21Inst”:

10. Wait for the installation files to load (This may take few minutes)

11. When the installation is launched, click “Next”
    

12. Click “Accept”
    

13. Click “Next”
    

14. Select “I accept the license agreement” and click “Next.”
    

15. For best performance, choose “Typical” (Steps 13, 14 and 15 are skipped). For advanced features, select “Custom”

16. Click “Next”
    

17. Click “Next” to install EndNote in the default destination folder (Recommended). To change the installation folder, click “Browse” and choose a different folder
    

18. Click “Next” to proceed with the installation as required
    

19. Click “Finish”
    

20. The program might ask for update once you launch it, it is highly recommended to do the update

21. You can delete the zipped file and the extracted folder on your desktop when finished

Mac (macOS 10.14 and above)

1. Close all Microsoft Office related programs, including Outlook

2. If you are not already on the download page, you can get the installation package here:

5. Click on “EndNote 21 for Mac”

6. Go to “Downloads” and double click on "EndNote21SiteInstaller.dmg”

7. Double click on “Install Endnote 21”                                                                                     

8. Click “Install” to start the installation
   

9. Click “Next”
   

10. Again, click “Next”
    

11. Wait for the installation to end and click “Done”
    

12. Right-click on “EndNote 21 Installer” and Eject it.
    

13. The program might ask for update once you launch it, it is highly recommended to do the update

14. You can delete "EndNote21SiteInstaller.dmg" from your “Downloads” directory when finished
