Service Description

The Public Printing Service at AUB Mediterraneo is a paid, self-service solution that allows students to print, photocopy, and scan documents using dedicated multifunction printers. Printing credits are recharged online through a secure payment page.

Students submit print jobs in advance from the public printing station computers in either Black & White or Color. These jobs are held securely in virtual print queues and are only printed when the student releases them at the device using their AUBMED ID card, ensuring privacy and controlled access. The service is managed through the PaperCut printing management system, which tracks usage, balances, and the activities of printing, copying, and scanning.

Printing is set to double-sided (duplex) by default, with the option to switch to single-sided (simplex) when needed. In addition to printing, students can make photocopies directly at the device and scan documents to email.

Quick Overview

With the Public Printing Service, students can:

  • Recharge printing credits online through a secure payment page.
  • Submit print jobs from public printing station computers to virtual print queues.
  • Release their own print jobs securely at the device using their AUBMED ID card (no pages are printed until the job is released). Unreleased print jobs expire automatically after 6 hours.

How to Print and Manage Print Jobs

Printing with the Public Printing Service is a two-step process: submit your print job from a printing station computer, then release it at the device using your AUBMED ID card.

Step 1 – Submit a Print Job

  1. Log in to a printing station computer using your AUBMED username and password.
  2. Open the document you wish to print.
  3. Select Print from the application.
  4. Choose the appropriate print queue:
    • BW– for standard Black & White printing (default)
    • Color – for color printing

Notes: Printing is not immediate. Jobs are held securely in the print queues until you release them at the device.

By default, printing is set to duplex (double-sided). If needed, change this to simplex (single-sided) in the print settings before submitting the job.

If Color printing is selected, a confirmation message will appear on the screen asking students to confirm that they intend to print in Color before the job is submitted.

Step 2 – Release and Manage Your Print Jobs at the Device

  1. Go to the multifunction printer associated with the Public Printing Service.
  2. Tap your AUBMED ID card on the card reader (top-right of the device).
  3. The device will authenticate you
  4. Select Print Release on the screen.

  1. From the Print Release screen, you can:
  • Release (print) selected jobs.
  • Cancel jobs you no longer need.
  • View basic details of each job (name, pages, time submitted).
  • Adjust selected job options (e.g., copies, grayscale, duplex), where applicable.

Important: Any print job not released within 6 hours is automatically deleted and no credit is deducted.
