Public vLabs

Tags vLabs

AUB's virtual computer labs, called vLabs, allows anyone with AUBnet account to access lab software anywhere, anytime via a web browser on their devices, on or off campus. It's like going to a computer lab without leaving home or the dorms so that students can do coursework or projects anywhere and anytime. Just like computer labs on campus, vLabs provide students with software ready to be used for learning, without the hassle of installing and activating the software on personal devices.

Note: Public vLabs have limited seats and are not intended for class instruction or exams, please contact your IT manager if that's what you need.

Software include R and R Studio, Matlab, MS Visual Studio, Eclipse, Python, Autodesk, Android Studio, and many more. Depending on major, a student may have access to more than one virtual lab with different specialized software installed.

To get started, visit vLabs.aub.edu.lb and enter your AUB user name and password. Once logged in to the vLab, students can use the virtual desktop to access the fully-functional applications. First-time users should configure MFA, the phone-based two-step login. For instructions, see How to configure MFA

If you are using a phone or tablet to access vLab, you may want to download VMWare Horizon, which is free on both Google Play and Apple Store

Benefits:

  • "Anywhere, anytime" free access to a virtual lab via any device with a web browser and VMWare Horizon, regardless of user's physical location.
  • No need to visit a computer lab to access software available in a lab.
  • Ability to access current versions of specialized software.
